Take a look at these ‘compelling’ arguments used to sell biometrics to schools! How the hell they get away with this is beyond comprehension.

Alibi for sale!
I found this through Scott Lemon’s blog and I concur with his sentiments. A company that is in the business of providing alibis. It is disturbing first that this service exists and second that it is presumably making money!
“Counterterrorism in America: Security Theater Against Movie-Plot Threats.”
yep Bruce Schneier again… very interesting talk he gave at the Macalester College -in the US I guess. He talks about ‘trade-offs’ for security, is it worth it? Shouldn’t we be asking this question more? It is worth listening too.
Privacy is our responsibility!
This I have quoted from Bruce Schneier’s blog and reflects my thinking exactly! I wonder who copied who :o)
Cyberspace battle using YouTube
An interesting evolution of cyber-warfare.
I can recommend a really good book that covers the subject area of information warfare and that is by Dorothy E. Denning, I read it whilst doing my MSc Information Security. It does cover a little bit to much from the ‘American’ viewpoint, but I enjoyed the book; both as a book to read from cover to cover, and definitely for studies in any type of Computer Science discipline.
A German paedophile in Second Life
You know there are now over 6 million ‘residents’ in Second Life? There is also evidence of paedophilia activity there, that is now being investigated by German prosecutors. Take a look at this article from the Guardian for more information.
Layoffs at IBM, Novell
Seems some of my old colleagues from Novell are being laid-off. See InfoWorld for more information.

Hi if you are interested in identity and privacy, take a visit to the ISM-Community there’s some interesting discussions going on re: defining ‘identification’, ‘authentication’ and ‘authorization’. Please dive in and enjoy!
Another dimension to RFID – I Cyborg
Have any of you heard of this project with Professor Kevin Warick -I Cyborg? I guess this has received some publicity in the UK so it’s no news for resident Brits.
For the rest of us … He has implanted himself -and declared as the first ever cyborg- and even implanted his wife with a chip and spoke publicly of implanting his daughter -but I don’t think he did it in the end?
If you are feeling the need to read a bit of ‘reality horror’ check out this link now and be shocked 😉
Identity Crisis – bedtime reading
I would like to recommend a book to read if you are interested in the area of identity and the need for identification in our everyday lives. It is by Jim Harper. I read it when it was first published last year, and still today I am thinking about what he wrote, and how it changed some of my thinking in this area.
